Business Casual Attire
Occasionally, casual business attire is appropriate for the job interview, but be careful not to make a mistake. Do research to determine WHAT is appropriate even in a relaxed business environment.
Women
- Khaki, corduroy, twill or cotton pants or skirts, neatly pressed
- Sweaters, twin-sets, cardigans, polo/knit shirts
- Solid colors work better than bright patterns
Men
- Khaki, gabardine or cotton pants, neatly pressed
- Cotton long-sleeved button-down shirts, pressed, polo shirts or knit shirts with a collar
- Sweaters
- Leather shoes and belt
Remember to be mindful of excessive jewelry and perfume/cologne.
When dressing business casual, it's not hard to dress too relaxed. Casual does not mean sloppy. You must consider the quality of your clothing, avoiding obviously old, tattered, worn out, faded, or deteriorating clothes. If you would wear the outfit to the supermarket, you might find something else to wear to the interview.
Avoid
this look, unless you're interviewing as a ranch hand.
